In the book of Ruth, Ruth left behind being comfortable. She left her homeland to follow Naomi to a foreign land, Bethlehem. Naomi attempted to dissuade her. She was told to go back with her sister-in-law who was turning back to go with her people. Naomi stated “Don’t urge me to leave you or turn back from you. Where you go I will go and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried.” – Ruth 1:16-17.
Ruth had the determination to face the unknown, making the decision to travel with Naomi. From Ruth, there is a lesson for every person. The lesson is that you must be willing to embark upon the unknown. You will need to make the decision to leave behind that which is comfortable resulting in stretching. Stretching to become better and stronger. Ruth’s tenacity led to her finding purpose. She met and married Boaz. Their union sparked the birth of both David and Jesus. Ruth followed the path and plan God had for her life. Ruth embarked upon the unknown and discovered opportunity.
Reflect on your life. What do you need to encounter to discover opportunity and release potential? What do you need to leave behind that will allow the greatness within you to be realized? You must be willing to leave behind that which has become comfortable to embark upon the unknown. Let go and go forward opening your mind to experience the unknown. Apostle Paul says it best, “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead.” -Philippians 3:13
