Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us.

Sometimes it takes hitting the bottom to get in alignment. The parable of the prodigal son tells the story of the ungrateful son who had the audacity to ask his father for his inheritance.  Inheritance is at discretion. The son felt that he could do better with managing his life. He is the better leader.

No More Air

His pride and selfishness caused him to hit rock bottom. He stopped floating and went to the bottom of the ocean. The air went out of his swimming float.

The young son squandered all of the money. Spending with no boundaries.  Chasing after women, partying and shopping. Reckless behavior that ended in poverty. He is feeding pigs to live. A Jew serving pigs. The young man became a bum. He came to his senses, saying “How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare and here I am starving to death! (Luke 15:17,NIV)

Wake Up

His poverty is the outcome of choices and selfishness that caused him to hit rock bottom. Bottom where there is dissatisfaction, having no direction, devaluation, and servitude. It takes hitting the bottom to wake up. To wake up to see that it is not your will and wants that are the priority. There is a purpose and plan for you that you are to follow. God’s alignment, not yours. Following requires obedience to God’s will, learning to gain knowledge and surrendering to the process.

Keep Floating

Be intentional in learning and listening yields gains in knowledge and wisdom. Do not allow selfishness and pride to make you reckless. Reckless behavior that causes your swimming float to be deflated. God’s will and plan keeps you afloat through the challenges and trials.  He provides at his time not your time. He equips with the necessary tools, skills, and inner strength enabling you to overcome challenges and make progress. The course of your life is his way not your way. Remain afloat by aligning with his will and purpose.

I challenge you this week to reflect on two things:

  1. What is God’s will and purpose for you?
  2. How are you in alignment?

Message me back with your results.
