Move On – Looking Forward

In Genesis 19, God sent two angels to Sodom and Gomorrah to survey the land to save those who were righteous, destroying the remainder along with the land. The people of Sodom and Gomorrah chose to be slaves to sin.  Letting it rule their hearts, minds and actions.  The angels sought to safe Lot and his family.  The angels instructed Lot and his family to flee.  They said “Don’t look back and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!” – Genesis 19:17

The angels were giving Lot and his family the opportunity to be move forward, not looking back.  Lot’s wife could not move on.  She could not leave the past behind.  Her mind was clinging to what she had grown accustomed and comfortable.  She looked back, attempting to hold on to what she needed to leave behind. Looking back resulted in her being turned into a pillar of salt.

Do not be like Lot’s wife.  Leave behind that which is comfortable to obtain better. Sodom & Gomorrah had become overtaken by evil and sin. The people were holding Lot and his family back. They were a hindrance. There will be people and things in your life that you will need to let go. Prior to the angels arriving, Lot and his family had become comfortable with the way of life. It took the angels to move them forward.

Do Not Become Comfortable

Lot and his family had become comfortable and complacent, which resulted in Lot’s wife looking back.   Looking back caused her to lose her life and her future.  You must choose to look forward embracing the unknown and believing in better is possible. Keep your focus on going forward and your vision. You will need to shed and move on from that which will hold you back to receive greater.  Otherwise, you will be like Lot’s wife, not realizing your potential and giving up on your life.
