God does get impatient waiting on you to take action. Taking action to produce fruit. He provides the nourishment and you are failing to reciprocate. For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil? -Luke 13:7
Doing nothing
A fig tree planted in a vineyard. Rooted in fertile soil instead of soil on the side of the road. It is in a location for cultivation and attention. In return for its prime location, the fig tree is not producing. The tree is taking up space. Space that could provided to another tree to produce. This particular tree is an example of doing nothing. Doing nothing is not acceptable.
Return on Investment
Just like the fig tree, God has cultivated and attended to you for you to produce. Planting is God’s favor and grace. God is expecting a response from you in return for where he plants you.
Respond
You are not to just coast along. Being a taker. You are to serve and give. Do not be idol. Yield a crop. Failing to meet expectations will cause your demise. God is waiting for your response. A response that requires duty and obedience. He has issued the calling for you to produce.
God does wait for a period. His patient gets stretched. He will give you a period of time to answer and respond. He will move on. God sees your inaction as mocking him. Passing up your possibilities that will result in realities.
Take time to reflect and answer these three questions for the next week?
- Where are you planted?
- What are you producing?
- How are you answering God’s calling?
Do not mock God. You are throwing away the gift of his grace and favor. God has expectations for you that requiring action to produce.
