Don’t You Understand Yet

Mark 6:30-44 tells the story of how Jesus performed the miracle of feeding 5,000+ with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.  After everyone ate, there were leftovers that filled 12 baskets full of pieces of bread and fish. In Mark 8:1-7, there was a large crowd of 4,000 people.  Jesus fed them with 7 loaves of bread and a few small fish.  There were leftovers that filled 7 large baskets.  In both of these miracles, every person ate when there was clearly not sufficient food for all.

In Mark 8:14, the disciples were traveling back in a boat after witnessing these two miracles arguing over there being no bread.  Jesus was in the boat with the disciples.  Jesus stated to them, “Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread?  Don’t you understand or comprehend?” –Mark 8:17  Jesus had just feed over 9,000 people with a few fish and loaves of bread.  They failed to remember what he had just done, overlooking who Jesus was and what he could.  The disciples were demonstrating their lack of faith.

As with the disciples, do you not understand?  Do you tend to forget or overlook what God has done in your life yesterday and the days before?  God is always present and gives you what you need.  God says He will never leave or forsake you.  You need to understand and believe in His word.  Reflect on when you have been in need.  You had a need that was not left unfulfilled. God is always watching and present.   He is your Provider and Waymaker.   Philippians 4:19 says “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” It is time for you to understand.
