Rejection

In Luke 14:15-24, Jesus tells the parable of the large banquet.  A man threw a large banquet, inviting many of his friends.  Each friend had an excuse for not being able to attend.  The man became angry.  His friends did not see the honor he was bestowing upon them.  Viewing the banquet as an event to be missed.  The friends did not see the value of the opportunity.

Give the seats away.

The friend decided to give their seats away.  He instructed his servant to go out into the streets, inviting the poor, maimed, blind and lame. All is this group, came to claim their seat. This was not an opportunity to miss. There were to be no vacant seats. The friend was filling the room to maximum capacity. He was not saving a seat for his friends. He instructed the servant to go out to invite even more people.

Go out into the highways and hedges and make them come in, so that my house may be filled. -Luke 14:23

Move on.

Extend the invitation.  Accepting the invitation is the responsibility of the individuals. Do not waste time and energy on individuals that decline the offer. Move on to extending the offer to others who do see the benefits.  Invite those to join you who will be assets and resources to aid you in what you are seeking to accomplish.  Do not save seats.  Fill it with those who appreciate and accept your offer.
