Moses was dead. The Israelites who had been disobedient and lacked faith were dead. The people had been wandering in the desert for 40 years. God determined that the time had come for His people to enter the Promised Land. The territory would be theirs as promised. They would be victorious in defeating the inhabitants of the land. Joshua was now in charge. He was to lead the people as Moses had done.
Be strong and courageous.
God stated to Joshua “Be strong and courageous, for you will distribute the land I swore to their fathers to give them as an inheritance.” -Joshua 1:6 Joshua had to be strong and courageous. He was picking up the mantle of leadership. The people had to be strong and courageous. God is with them. They had to move forward. Being strong and courageous would equip and empower them to be victorious. There was no need to be fearful or to be anxious. They had God. “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9
You create fear.
Fear is perception. Fear sprouts because you allow your physical sight to be in control instead of seeing with hope and faith. Believe in the One who is with you. Keep your mind focused on Him. Nothing is impossible for your Father. You will be victorious and accomplish what you set out to do. Withstand and overcome obstacles and obstructions. You will encounter obstacles. They will make you stronger. Stronger to keep pressing forward. Embrace the battles, leaning in to your courage. Be courageous and strong as God has commanded. Let courage conquer your fears. Do not allow the fears to conquer your courage. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. -Joshua 1:9
