Confirming Your Path

2 Peter 1:10 (NIV) states “therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election.”  This scripture challenges active engagement in confirming your life’s path.  Not being passive but deliberate. Deliberate in applying three key elements – authority, gifts and free will.

The Three Elements of Path Confirmation

Authority: Embracing Your Power

Your authority is founded in being created in God’s image. Being in his image gives you the right and responsibility to make decisions that shape your journey. Understanding this authority empowers you to step confidently into your calling because of the “knowing” of the power to choose and act.

Gifts: Using Your Divine Endowment

You are uniquely equipped with specific gifts and talents that are not random abilities but purposeful tools designed for your particular path. Recognizing and developing these gifts provides clear indicators of your intended direction and purpose.

Free Will: The Power of Choice

Free will is your most profound gift giving you to ability to choose our path. This freedom comes with responsibility to actively align your choices with your calling. Through free will, you participate in shaping your destiny.

Making the Choice

The intersection of authority, gifts, and free will creates the space where you confirm your calling. In this space you exercise your authority with wisdom, deploy your gifts with purpose and use your free will with intention.

Walking the Chosen Path

Once the path is chosen, the journey requires consistent effort in developing your gifts.  This means regularly exercising your authority and wisely using your free will in making daily decisions.  Making decisions is an ongoing process that is a commitment to developing unique gifts, growing in your authority and learning from your choices. Each decision becomes an opportunity to confirm your path that will have challenges. Challenges that are opportunities to strengthen your resolve to following your path. The path that is uniquely yours. Through the deliberate application of your authority, gifts, and free will, you confirm not just your calling but your commitment to living it fully.
