Facing Challenges Becomes Faithing the Challenge

Life has a way of throwing curveballs when least expected.  Whether it’s job loss, health crisis, relationship struggle, or financial hardship, challenges appear at every turn.  But what if there’s a different way to view these difficult seasons? Consider faithing the challenge instead of facing the challenge.

Perspective of Joy in Trials

James 1:2 (NIV) gives the shift in perspective: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” Initially, your responses are “Impossible. Are you serious? Celebrate in my darkest hours.” James wants you to see that there is transformative power in faith-centered living. The word “consider” speaks to an intentional choice. A deliberate decision to reframe your circumstances through the lens of faith. It is not denying the pain or pretending everything is fine but recognizing that your trials serve a greater purpose in God’s plan.

The Hidden Gift of Perseverance

When you “faith the challenge”, there is testing of your faith that produces perseverance.  A spiritual muscle that is strengthened through exercise. Just as physical muscles grow stronger under resistance, your spiritual resilience develops through adversity.

Perseverance isn’t just enduring; it’s enduring with purpose and hope. It’s the quiet confidence that God is working behind the scenes, weaving your struggles into a tapestry of character development and spiritual maturity. Every challenge becomes an opportunity for trusting deeper, leaning harder on divine strength, and discovering reserves of faith you never knew existed.

Practical Steps to Faith Your Challenges

Faithing the challenge requires intentional practices: acknowledging God’s sovereignty over your circumstances, looking for small evidences of His faithfulness and surrounding yourself with a community that can speak truth when your perspective becomes clouded. This helps you to see that trials are temporary and necessary to forming character that is eternal.

The Challenge

I challenge you to identify one trial you’re currently facing and choose to “faith” it instead of just enduring it. Ask yourself: How might God be using this challenge to build perseverance in my life? What lesson is He teaching me through this difficulty? Take a moment to thank Him for the growth happening in your heart, even if you can’t see it yet. Remember, every challenge is an invitation to experience God’s faithfulness in a deeper way—will you accept it?
