Battle Within by HS Jackson

In 1 Samuel 12, God granted the request of the people of Israel, appointing a king.  God appointed Saul.   Saul was a man of stature.  On the outside, he was tall, good-looking, and well-built.  However, within he was a mess.  He lacked courage and depth.   When Saul was to be appointed as king he hides, when asked to lead he makes excuses, when his soldiers began to scatter, he panics and disobeys God, when confronted for his wrongdoing he makes excuses, when the Philistines approach him he fails to negotiate and when he loses the allegiance of his people he builds a statue of himself.   Saul could not overcome the battle within themself.  He was not able to be the king that the people of Israel needed.  He lacked courage, wisdom, and heart.

Side note:  God foretold the people that a king was not what was needed; however, the experience is our best teacher as long as it is evaluated.  Experience must be evaluated in order for the lesson to be truly learned.   This will be a future message thus stay tuned.

God provides you with the outward appearance giving you what is needed.  You have to feed that which is within you, overcoming the battles within yourself to reach fulfillment, achievement, and success.  Do not become a slave of your own insecurities and possessiveness.  You must have the courage to fill the role and reason for your existence.  Lack of courage and depth will lead to your failing, not utilizing your gifts and potential.  You must be willing to face the demons within yourself, becoming uncomfortable leading to your growth and development.  Overcome the battle within, otherwise, you will self-sabotage fulfilling your dreams and your purpose.
